The 1954 case of Brown vs. the Board of Education ruled
that racial segregation of public schools was unfair and unconstitutional.
Although this landmark court ruling set the precedent for school integration
in North Carolina, attainment of this goal was slow and contentious. On
this edition of OPEN/net, we are discussing the history of school integration
in North Carolina and the future of diversity for North Carolina's student
body.
